I was walking at Edgewood Reserve in San Carlos about a month or so ago, somewhere thats loaded with snakes. If you go at the right time your pretty much guaranteed to spot at least a couple of interesting specimens.

Anyway, on this particular morning I spotted what Ive since identified as a Coastal Boa, it was about 2 1/2" long and was pretty much indigo black with torquoise markings, really beautiful and not at all bothered by my getting as closer look as possible.

Upon further rearch Ive discovered that this guy was way out of what is considered its usual range.

Anybody else spotted one of these or know if they are typically found in are neighbourhood

Heres a photo from the California Herps website.
