Saturday October 13! Hike around Muir Beach Overlook. This is a beautiful beach with amazing vistas. At 11AM, we will meet at The Muir Beach overlook, as depicted here: www.nps.gov/archive/muwo..._overlook.htm
We start at the overlook and hike about a mile to Heather Cut-Off. Trail, but we don’t take it, instead we continue up the hill toward Cardiac hill, and then descend Stapelveldt, Ben Johnston and Hillside trails and exit out of Muir Woods. Take the Redwoods trail around Kent Valley and up the Heather cut-off --- Here we mosey through Slide ranch to the coast along the Owl and other unmarked trails. From this beach we can cover the last 1-mile back to the overlook.
That’s 10.6 miles.
Let’s set up some carpools for this hike. The hike will take about 5 hours with breaks.
This is a map of the area: www.nps.gov/goga/planyou...p-muwo-2.pdfb

Re: October 13 - Hike with the Bay Area Hiking Club!
Mon, October 15, 2007 - 4:09 PMYeah, I was pretty late in my decision to go, so I didn't really expect to connect over tribe. I was late getting there, too - I showed up at the overlook a little after 11 and waited around until 12:15, but unfortunately I missed you guys. I saw the wedding group there - they must have felt lucky about the weather! I couldn't remember the route you had described, so I went on my own hike - over to Slide Ranch to check out their harvest festival, then up the Coast View trail to Pantoll and back. It was gorgeous! Anyway, I hope I can be part of the group sometime... I'll keep an eye out for your announcements. Cheers! -
