This afternoon (Thu, Aug 21, 2008) there was a reported sighting of two mountain lions seen entering Edgewood Park. Alerts were sent out and the story was on local news. Later, the Examiner reported that the sighting may have been a false alarm because they didn't find any tracks or the dead deer that was also reported, but they did find deer grazing in the area.

Re: Mountain lion sighting in Edgewood Park, maybe . . .
Thu, August 21, 2008 - 11:45 PMTheres a carcass in the mowed meadow adjacent to the 280, if one was heading south along the trail its just after the underpass on the other side of the path. I saw it yesterday morning.
Its a fawn, head, front legs and ribcage still intact. I assumed it was a coyote kill, although Ive always suspected ML are on Edgewood. -

Fri, August 22, 2008 - 8:16 AMThe more I think about this carcass the more I think it could have been a ML. I imagine coyotes would have stripped all the flesh to the bone. Im wondering if ML wouldnt bother working on the pratically meatless front legs and head? -

Fri, August 22, 2008 - 10:44 AMI just called the sheriff's office and they said that there was "no merit to the mountain lion sighting", so there ya' go. We do get mountain lions from time to time though . . .
