Anyone interested in doing a moderate hike tomorrow (Saturday) to Tennessee Valley? I've never been. I live in Oakland and can drive. If so, shoot me an email.

I swear there have been a dozen plus hikes I've been on where you were almost gonna go on too but didn't at the last min. So we have yet to meet. Are you going on Mike Miller's urban SF hike on aug 25th? I'll be in town for that for sure!!! -

Sun, August 19, 2007 - 3:22 PMI love TV for a quick hike pr trail run close to the city but it can be crowded at peak times, like weekend afternoons. The flat trail to the ocean is great for an easy hike or bike. Take a picnic. The best bet to get away from the crowds is to climb up the Miwok trail to Coyote Ridge (or really any trail that leads up, but Miwok is my favorite because it goes through eucalyptus groves). You have a great view of the ocean and Mt Tam from there. I've seen coyote and great horned owls at twilight along the Miwok trail. The fog can roll in super fast, so bring layers. It's beautiful when it comes in over the coastal ridges and slides down the hillsides!

This has often been my problem as well. I think we're tentatively planning for an 11:00 start time on Saturday. Nothing too strenuous....I'm just getting my hiking legs back after my car accident. -

Wed, August 22, 2007 - 9:47 PMI'm there almost every weekend and would be happy to meet up with people at some point but I'm out of town this weekend and the next.
If you're feeling ambitious (and have recovered for the previous evening's entertainment), you can also hike up and over the ridge and down to the Green Gulch/Zen Center for a good destination hike.
